Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has died at 76, just weeks after his emotional final live performance. The Black Sabbath frontman had long battled Parkinson’s disease.

In a statement, wife Sharon Osbourne and children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis shared: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in England, Ozzy co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968, pioneering heavy metal. Known as the “Prince of Darkness,” his wild antics, such as biting the heads off animals on stage, made headlines. Yet, he insisted it was all an act, once telling The New York Times, “I am not the Antichrist. I am a family man.”

After being fired from Black Sabbath in 1979 due to substance abuse, Ozzy launched a successful solo career with albums like Blizzard of Ozz and hit singles like “Crazy Train.” He later rejoined Sabbath for tours and their final album 13 in 2013.

Outside music, Ozzy became a reality TV star on MTV’s The Osbournes (2002–2005), showcasing his humor and family life. He sold over 100 million albums and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice.

His final performance was on July 5, 2025, at a Black Sabbath reunion concert in Birmingham, raising funds for Parkinson’s and children’s charities.

He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Rest in peace, Ozzy.
